Stop Selling Your Brands and Services Directly

Once your foundation is strong in social media following the above discussed points, focus on reaching the target audience. Every brand/service has a certain potential customers/community around it. To reach these community, you have to search them on on-line forums, Google Blog Search, Twitter and a lot more channels and become a part of these communities and build up a kind of brand awareness among them. Start with small and consistent communications with them; and invite conversations about a specific topic. If your content has created a buzz around the community, that attracts others to your conversation.

But one thing that needs to be taken care of is “stop selling your brand/services directly”. In the present scenario, customers want to learn about a subject area, choose products and services on their own after research, recommendations, and reasoning. Hence, use social media to build up a strategy to sell your brand than to sell directly. Once you have proved your value, others will look to follow you and the products you use or try.
If you want to drive traffic to your business, give your customers a reason to connect you on-line and they will. For example, promote your businesses through Facebook deals, contests, special offers,Tweets incentives, or on-line coupons where customers take part (somehow related to the business). Deliver outstanding customer service. This turns your short term customers into lifelong customers. Apart from this, use social media to take advantage by monitoring conversations and jumping in when an opportunity to help or say thank you arises.
Among all these, one of the most important point is keeping a record of your progress such as fans, followers, subscribers, traffic, direct sales, etc… to determine if progress is being made. After a certain point of time, it becomes easier to determine what works best and the business can begin to adopt best practices. Social Media is an ongoing process, but by following a plan over a span of time it becomes progressively easier to win over and keep loyal customers. Social media is a very powerful tool for promoting your service/brand. But be careful. If social media is misused, it can turn off your followers. You may not get another chance.
